I attend a variety of continuing education courses and conferences. These classes keep me well-informed on the latest research, and provides me with new and up-to-date tools and approaches for therapy. Continuing education courses and conference topics have included dyspraxia, articulation, family involvement in the therapeutic process, social communication, PROMPT (trademark), therapy in the school setting, central auditory processing disorders, hearing impairment, and speech and hearing science and research. In addition, I attend conferences in other professional fields such as neuroscience, psychology and social work. Most of the conferences are hosted and/or certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association of America, (ASHA), and I am proud to have received ASHA’s Award for Continuing Education, which is a “formal recognition of professionals who have demonstrated their commitment to lifelong learning by earning 7.0 continuing education credits (70 contact hours) within a 36 month period”, in 2007 and 2009.
